How to Play the PGA Championship on a Golf Simulator

For those who may never have the opportunity to watch or play golf at Oak Hill Country Club, here's how to play the PGA Championship on a golf simulator.

Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y., has hosted several major professional golf major tournaments: three PGA Championships, the Ryder Cup, three U.S. Opens, two U.S. Amateurs, the U.S. Senior Open, and two Senior PGA Championships. You can add one more to the count as the East Course will host the 2023 PGA Championship from May 15-21.

With typically the deepest and strongest field of players in the men's game, the PGA Championship is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated events of the golf season, and it's not hard to see why. The tournament brings together the best players on the planet, as ranked by the Official World Golf Rankings. It is golf's only all-professional major tournament.

The pros will be playing from near the championship tees, but you can play from whatever length you feel challenges your game just enough. According to the Oak Hill Country Club scorecard, there are six different tees you can play from:

  • Championship tees: 7,390 yards
  • Black: 6,995 yards
  • Blue: 6,655 yards
  • White: 6195 yards
  • Gold: 5,595 yards
  • Green: 5265 yards

The men's par is listed as 71/70. Depending on what tees you play from, the 17th hole can play as a par 4 or 5, which is why there is a difference in the full course men's par number.

For women, it is a par 72 course from the women's tees. They would play the 17th hole as a par 5, and also change hole 1 from a par 4 to a par 5 to make up the extra two strokes.
