Building the Ultimate $20K Golf Simulator

What would you do with about $20,000 for a golf simulator? Put more into the launch monitor? Go big on the screen? Make the room a place the whole family will use? We built four versions in Carl's Build Your Own Golf Simulator tool to see what those choices look like.

Four Golf Simulator Builds Around $20,000

Three saved builds come in under $20,000. The Trackman build runs a little over. Each one puts the money somewhere different, so the best choice depends on how you plan to use the room.

Best for Indoor and Outdoor Practice:
Carl's Pro Enclosure with Foresight GC3

This one is for the golfer who wants to practice in the simulator and take the launch monitor to the range. The GC3 Essentials Plus Bundle sits beside the ball indoors and gives you a portable way to check your numbers outdoors. A Foresight swing camera and tripod add video review when you're back at the computer.

The Pro enclosure has a High-Contrast Gray Impact Screen, pipe kit and two safety baffles. We paired it with a 5x8 HotShot mat, Standard Hitting Strip, an additional Gel Divot Strip and an Appotronics MK650B projector. The gray screen makes sense in a practice room that isn't completely dark.

Tradeoff: The GC3 takes floor space beside the ball, and the swing camera needs a compatible computer. The saved build does not show a PC. Check the software supplied with the GC3 when you order.

Best for Immersive Golf:
Carl's Curved Enclosure with Uneekor EYE XO

Here, the screen gets the spotlight. The wide Curved enclosure screen wraps around the playing area, while a 6x10 HotShot mat gives you more room to stand and hit. The overhead EYE XO stays out of the way when righties and lefties take turns.

The saved build pairs the EYE XO with a GSPro subscription and BenQ AK700ST 4K projector. It uses the EYE XO, rather than the EYE XO2, to leave more of the budget for the large curved screen and projection.

Tradeoff: A room this wide and deep needs careful measurements. To connect the EYE XO to GSPro through Uneekor, you need an active Uneekor Pro membership or higher as well as the GSPro license. A suitable Windows PC is not shown in the saved build.

Best for Golf, Games, and Movies:
Carl's Built-In Room with TruGolf Multisport Arcade

This build gives the screen more than one job. LaunchBox handles the golf shots; TruGolf MultiSport ARCADE adds its own tracking system for sports games. When nobody's playing, the Built-In screen makes a great spot for family movie night.

The saved configuration has a Premium Impact Screen, wall and ceiling protection, LaunchBox, MultiSport ARCADE with its sport pack, a 5x8 HotShot mat and an Appotronics MK750B projector.

Tradeoff: The saved total covers the selected simulator products. Plan separately for the computer and connections needed to run the games, plus any movie source, speakers and seating you want.

Almost $20k: To Get The Trackman Experience

We wanted to see how close a finished room with a Trackman could get to $20,000. This Built-In configuration came close. It pairs the Trackman iO Home with a Premium Impact Screen, wall and ceiling panels, a 5x8 HotShot mat and BenQ AH30ST projector.

The appeal is Trackman's own software: TPS practice modes and Virtual Golf course play. With iO Home, you get Range, Target Practice, Map My Bag, Performance Center, On-Course Practice and a selection of courses. It's a way into the Trackman ecosystem without pricing in the Home Complete upgrade.

Tradeoff: The build is over budget for one. It doesn't show a compatible PC. The first year of Home software is included with the iO, with an annual subscription after that. But, we were close!

Conclusion

A $20,000 golf simulator is a big investment; you have enough room in the budget to make some meaningful choices. A bigger screen may mean choosing a different launch monitor. A premium launch monitor may leave less for the rest of the room. And a simulator that’s great for your solo practice sessions might not be the one your family wants to use on Friday night.
